Ipanema’s Urban Fashion Jungle Event Wows Davao Fashionistas

Ipanema‘s mystical creatures and Davao’s fashion animals converged in a night of glamour and majestic mystery unfolded at the Urban Jungle Fashion Show in Abreeza Mall, Davao City last Friday, October 12.

The jungle-inspired stage (mind you, the sounds and the beat of the drums made me feel like I was in forests of Rio de Janeiro, too!)

The seamless dances and moves were remarkable

Ipanema’s latest flipflops collection were artistically presented in a jungle-inspired fashion show, showcasing bold prints and vibrant colors set to  capture the wild side of both men and women. My eyes feasted on an hour’s worth of graceful movements to showcase the new flipflops in their splendid glory. I bet Ipanema fans present during the event were already contemplating of adding a pair or two to their collection.

The show was presented by Ipanema Philippines, in coordination by Bambu Ventures, Inc ( dealer of  our favorite Brazilian footwears: Ipanema, Grendha and Rider )led by owner/President Mr. Patxi Elizalde.

It was such an experience to be part of the digital media to cover the event. Cheers to more exciting events and shows in the future. =)

Blog Weekend Bootcamp: A Homecoming of Sorts

The participants and organizers

In the past months, I have always seen Davao Bloggers’ activities in my FB newsfeed and there is this constant wish of mine to be part of the group. However, I noticed most of the bloggers I see in the event photos are younger than me, and geez, I might feel way out of their league so I just kept on lurking. Good thing, one of the officers/organizers, Karla, informed me about the Blogger Weekend Bootcamp (held on Sept 21-23, 2012) and reassured me that there are also mommies like me who actively blog and are frequent attendees in local blogger events.

See, I started writing since highschool and that’s like ages ago. And for the past few years, my job online has been focused on editing articles, SEO (search engine optimization) building, customer support, and the like. Although I have a personal blog here and I had another one in Friendster ( which died) years ago, I never really wrote regularly due to the heavy schedule I have at work ( gah, excuses, excuses). And this to me, is a chance to revive my penchant for writing again.

Bootcamp gear.

So there I was preparing for the bootcamp, (hmmm, the word bootcamp sounds so Barbie-doll~ish, but I was actually excited!) and was looking forward for the mini-vacation cum seminar amidst the relaxing ambiance of Malagos Garden Resort.

My pass!!!

And what made it even more exciting was the roster of speakers who were experts in their own rights. Janette Toral, Aileen Apolo, Rene Lizada, Jojie Alcantara, Jay Frank de Jesus and more!

Apart from the exciting line-up of activities, the registration fee of Php 1500 ( Php1300 for the early registrants) was a major come-on. It was definitely  a steal, as it already included bootcamp materials, full meals & snacks, and accommodations for 3 days and 2 nights. ‘San ka pa?

The tools.

In a nutshell, I’m glad I came and joined the rest of the Davao bloggers. I made new good friends and renewed my flair for sharing my random thoughts and what-nots in an online platform.  I am now a certified blogger, again!

Got the balls coming, yeah!

Yay! Got my 2 magic 8 ball couple of months ago, thanks to my ever supportive clients. And ofcourse to Amazon for being there with just a click of a few buttons. Now, am thinking what toy or gadget to wish for that’s not available here in my country.

Honestly, it’s the wishing and waiting that’s more exciting.  Getting it makes it more like the icing on the cake or cherry on top of the icecream, or the peanut butter and jelly on my pandesal.

Ok, am shy to say this, i’m vain but..  i’m wondering how does facebook-ing feels with an Ipad. hehehe. ***wink***…

On the second thought maybe Amazon just amazes me ‘coz of the awesome stuff  being sold there, and i know Ipad has been here in Ph since  middle of last year. I am just a great fan of  random things we often don’t see in the malls. And if they’re just affordable, i’d try to own them before they hit the stores in Chinatown, and then I’d be prepared for the reality that they’re gonna  lose their so-called uniqueness and value, sigh, thanks to uber mass production.

Anyways, since i kinda hate iron stands coz the take up so much space when i’m ironing clothes ( yes, i do that, I’m a mother of  3 children who wear uniforms every single weekday.), but i still use them anyways, I wish there’s an iron board that i can just pull out from my closet  or wall. That way, i can freely push it back after pressing clothes, minus the hassle of  carrying the whole of an iron stand to and fro the laundry area.

Hmmm, shall I get? My Magic ball 8 says., “Outlook looks good!”

Lol, what a pressure.

My Hodgy Podgy Self (Part1)

Yesterday during  one of my so-called idle FB moments, I took a personality quiz similar to the one posted by a friend.  It was quite amusing to know what the result told me about myself. Dig this, it says, I am the pleasant kind of person who exudes an aura that makes another person happy. Sheesh. This is not to say that all those crazy quizzes and stuff  are always true, but, yeah, that is partly correct (**wink**blush**)

I’d always  think that I am a positive person and easy to please and get along with, but the thought led me to think about the other things people may not know about me.

In Facebook, prolly all they could see is my outgoing self, just looking at my pictures with friends, family and the ones taken during my travels and stuff.  Some may think, too, that I am just wasting time away playing Mafia Wars forever. LOL. Hmm, could be.

Here are some bits and pieces of myself:

1. SEO Person/ Website Content Writer – This is the main reason I go online most hours in the morning and in my evening. I sit infront of my PC at home posting blogs, links, press releases, editing and other SEO related tasks for work.  ( Believe me, this may sound posh but during hectic days, like month-end, it can also be nerve wracking, boring, eye-popping and shitty but pays… well…good enough to satisfy some wants and needs). This job doesn’t require me to shop for clothes and shoes for work and I save transportation expense. My overhead however  are electricity, PC maintenance and monthly internet subscription.

2. (Stage!)Mother of 3 active, adorable, smart [and sometimes annoying] kids… – Just imagine me, infront of the PC while all these creatures  hugging and kissing me. On some days, they piss me off when they endlessly bug me and when they argue over PC games or just plainly outsmarting each other with their antics leading one of them to cry, etc. So, just think of the stress a mother like me can have but more importantly, savor the fact that I can be with them and see them while I’m at work.  It is so easy to forget about all the worries even just for awhile and just jump on the bed and  hug them ( yes, they love hugs!). I thank God, my children are sweet. They say, “I love you” all the time, too.

But of course, my kids are smart and critical to tell me sometimes that I am so engrossed at work that I don’t hear what they had to say, that I just nod but never really listened. Ughh, that’s the downside. Yes, I’m not perfect but trying to be better.

3. Sales Person – I  have always been the business-minded kind of person. I started my marketing career in 2nd grade, no one really taught me how, I remember buying 10 pcs of candies that came with a toy from a neighborhood store and started selling them to my classmates. The rest is as they say, history. 27 years later, it’s make-up, colognes, concert tickets, clothing, health and wellness, underwear  or just about anything. Hey, do you need something???  😀

I’ll do part 2 very soon, my client is about to kill me..Toodles 😉
